Myths and misconceptions
There is an opinion that semi-synthetics have a higher viscosity than synthetics. This is not true. For different oils with the same marking, for example, 5W-40, the indicator at engine operating temperatures will be exactly the same, which shows the same index after the letter W.
Some drivers believe that after a run of 100 thousand km, it is necessary to pour semi-synthetics in order to compensate for the increase in gaps with its density.
On the contrary, when worn, any 5W-50 oil is better, but only if the consumption has not increased. If the level began to fall faster, then the thicker oil is harmful - the lubrication of the parts will deteriorate.
