In apartments with central heating, a heater is essential. But each, even the most ideal heating device, necessarily consumes electricity, and gives off heat in different ways. We have reviewed convector, oil and infrared devices, and have selected the best heater for your apartment - economical and safe. We will review by the same parameters for all types of devices - these are energy efficiency and safety.
We would like to express our special gratitude to the master of household appliances repair - Spiridonov Viktor Olegovich.
Which heater to choose for you?
The efficiency of all devices is almost the same and approaches 100 percent. We can say that they consumed 1 kW of electric energy - they released almost the same amount of heat energy. The difference is that some heat the air, which quickly evaporates, while others heat objects that retain heat for a long time. Each buyer calculates the required power for his premises as follows: you need to calculate that for 1 square meter. leaves 100 kW.
- Convector heaters. The heater works on the principle of convection heat exchange. A heating element is installed inside the housing, which cannot be reached by hand. This heater heats up the air. As a result, the heated air rises up, and cold air comes in its place from below. And so the cycle repeats indefinitely.
The convector heats up the air, hence its advantages and disadvantages. Objects around the heater take a long time to heat up and the air heats up quickly. The convector will not be able to heat the floors. Such a device will be effective only indoors, because the heated air can quickly evaporate without having time to warm up the objects around. The convector body does not heat up very much, it is difficult to get burned. Convectors are very well suited to hang or install under windows. This will create a thermal curtain. Convectors can be used to heat the whole house.
- Oil radiators. They look like heating batteries we are used to, but they run on electricity, not hot water. The body of the heater is sealed and filled with mineral oil; a heating element (boiler) is installed inside. The heating element heats the oil, the oil gives off heat in the form of radiant energy (it is not visible) and in the form of heated air.
- Infrared heaters (IR)... a heater that gives off heat to the environment by means of infrared radiation. Heats objects and a person, and not the air around. Heating occurs immediately after turning on the device. With IR heaters, you can create a warm space both indoors and outdoors. The heater is used in rooms with high ceilings (halls of cafes, restaurants), in utility rooms (garages, sheds, verandas, dressing rooms). The heater can be used in structures located outdoors (loggias, playgrounds, terraces).
